1918 Spanish Flu
I grew up in rural America and used to take walks with my family past an old country cemetery near our home. We stopped in there one time and my parents noticed that it was all youngish people who died around 1918-1919. My folks told me it was the Spanish flu and told stories of how it killed millions of people. So growing up that tale was always in the back of my mind and I had no reason to question it... until now.
Scientific testing was in its infancy in 1918. They didn’t even know what a virus was until 1933. So how would country doctors have the capability of scientifically testing each person that died (50 million) to decipher if it was indeed the Spanish Flu virus strain or something else like food poisoning, me enviros, or sepsis?
I have also read reports of Aspirin being over used during that time contributing to lots of deaths. One account out of England during the war describes a symptoms more similar to dengue fever than the flu. There was also a documentation that Soldiers at Fort Riley (Ground Zero for the Spanish Flu) were given a bacteria pneumonia serum from the Rockefeller Institute of Medicine which may have been responsible for the Spanish Flu as bacterial pneumonia affects younger people more.
Have we been lied to and for what reason? Was it biological warfare during World War I as it killed more troops than any battle had. Or was it just normal disease being categorized under a Spanish Flu catchall? Why don’t articles question the validity of the death tolls? What do you all think?
