The argument for corona being man made

1- If you were going to make a virus, it only makes sense that you'd start with an existing virus and tweak it to make it more dangerous. This is true for 2 reasons: It would be way easier to develop than by starting from scratch and making a brand new piece of biological material AND it would cover your tracks since it would look like a naturally evolved strain. All they have to do is see what America developed as a defense against SARS, then tweak this strain to have an aspect that bypasses that defense.

2- South Korea's response has been very good. Suspiciously good, almost as if someone know what was coming.

2- Every expert has emphatically stated that this was not develop as a weapon. This is exactly what they would say if they knew the opposite was true. It's way better for people to think that it was accidental. Saying the truth that it's an attack would just cause more panic. There would be no upside to the truth.

4- China knows that they are more capable of handling this outbreak then most of the world. They are an authoritarian state who keeps its people in the dark. They don't value human rights, people are already used to being heavily restricted with no pushback. Even if they lose people, it's fine. They don't mind killing their own people. Sure, they had a handful of people die, but nowhere near as much as the rest of the world is going to see. They needed to have some casualties in order to appear like they are a victim as well. It throws off suspicion. The truth is though, that a few thousand deaths is a sacrifice they are willing to make.

The USA, by contrast, is not very well equipped to handle this. It enters from both coasts. The timing is perfectly problematic: the leadup to the presidential election. One of the USA's biggest weakness is that its leaders care more about their political rivalry than they do about making good decisions to run the country. This pandemic targets and exposes that weakness.

The pressure that the US govt has to slow the spread is going to cause significant, longterm, economic damage. This is the real gain that China gets out of all this. Traditional military warfare is not the way of the world today. Economic warfare is the new stage. The trade war between the US and China has been ramping up in the last couple years. The economic damage from this outbreak hits the West much harder than it hits China.
