False memories, the Betty and Barney Hill abductions, and 9/11

Please stick with me here. I'll be as concise as I possibly can be.

So I was listening to a fairly new podcast called "Strange Arrivals". This particular season deals with the alleged UFO abductions recounted by Betty and Barney Hill. If you are familiar with this case, you know that most of the Hill's recollections of their story were recovered through hypnotic regression. Hypnotic regression was a widely accepted psychological tool at the time. However, over the years, scientific studies have proven that it is far from perfect.

In fact, newer studies have shown the ease with which people can be made to firmly believe memories that are not real at all. I believe the example used in the podcast was that of a study where the participants were made to watch video of a car accident, and were afterwards asked key details of the accident. It was clearly shown that through the process of simple suggestion, people's memories could be altered. For example, people were absolutely adamant that they had seen one of the cars run a stop sign, when the video had clearly shown them a yield sign.

Now, the fact that the United States government was (and probably still is) interested in mind control experiments is proven fact. The MKUltra program was at its height in the late fifties and early sixties. (The Hill's alleged abduction occured in September 1961. Interestingly, McGill University in Montreal was where many of these experiments took place. The Hill's were driving back from Montreal when they were allegedly abducted.)

MY THEORY: Betty and Barney Hill - and many, many others - were unwitting participants in MKUltra, or some other similar program. They were abducted - not by aliens, but by the CIA. These CIA doctors somehow implanted these memories in the Hill's minds. When these memories were later "recovered", no doubt they would have been thrilled to see how effective their tactics were.

Skip ahead to 9/11. Several investigations have suggested that passenger jets could not have brought down WTC buildings 1 & 2. (That passenger jets did not bring down WTC building 7 has never been in dispute.) Now, I know I am going to open a can of worms here, but: What if the "no planes" theory is actually true? What if controlled demolition actually brought down WTC buildings 1, 2 and 7? Regardless of what the truth is, the government would need the general public to believe that airliners, flown by Muslim terrorists, brought down those buildings.

Could we all be brainwashed? Could we all believe that we saw commercial airliners smash into the World Trade Towers, because that's what the United States government needed us to believe we saw? If these memories are false, could they be the culmination of all of the government's decades of mind control research? Could they have been implanted by false media reports - such reports having been orchestrated and made possible by CIA assets within the media, particularly the television news networks?
