Patreon deliberately does not enforce its rule against copyright infringing content unless forced by a DMCA claim because it makes more money if it lets its users break the law, and can't be held liable due to safe-harbor provisions as long as it feigns ignorance that it's happening.
Sure, this is small potatoes, but here we go.
I've observed that if pressed about a user committing copyright infringement on Patreon, they always say, effectively, "We won't do anything about this unless we receive a DMCA claim from the copyright owner.". Excuse me? The terms of use say "You may not post creations that infringe others' intellectual property or proprietary rights.", not "You may post creations that infringe others' intellectual property or proprietary rights as long as you don't get us sued.".
They're effectively propping up this behaviour for as long as the lawyers don't come knocking on the door even though it's often clearly not legally sound. Why would they do that? Easy. Familiar properties get asses in the seats. If Patreon allows creators to commit copyright infringement because that copyright infringement will draw a crowd that's probably going to pay that creator to keep doing what they're doing, it's win-win. The creator gets paid, and Patreon skims their take off the top, thereby profiting off of it. And as long as the creator never gets noticed by whatever company they're stealing IPs from, they can just keep on doin' it. Even if they do, Patreon's still effectively invincible because the moment the creator gets noticed and Patreon gets the DMCA takedown, all they need to do is say "Oh, I'm so sorry, we didn't know this was happening!" even if they had been informed previously by a third party, no no no, that's not important information at all. They can't go after Patreon as long as Patreon takes down the infringing content, after all. Blame somebody for doing something, it's all their fault, not yours at all for doing nothing to stop them up until the point somebody noticed.
Isn't that messed up?
