The CMB data, once analyzed by using the multipole toolset, shows Earth to be at the center of the universe.
This fact is avoided at all costs, as scientist attempt to claim the data is flawed, while others blatantly admit this fact “must be avoided at all costs”. It’s not like the test is flawed as we’ve got the same result 3 times from 3 different teams. The WMAP, COBE, and Planck probes have all got the same result. Using the data from the CMB, Max Tegmark of MIT along with a team of scientist, have discovered something strange in the data. There seems to be a special orientation in space that aligns an axis with earth, indicating that we are very well at the center of the universe. This is dubbed the “Axis of Evil” by scientist that HATE this discovery.
To avoid this they claim that no matter where we are in the universe we will see the same thing, that everywhere looks like the center, though that goes completely against the scientific method as these are assumptions that cannot be tested (atleast not yet). As well it seems that Lawerence Krauss, Edwin Hubble, Stephen Hawking and other well known scientist also believe the CMB data, as well as the Redshifts of the cosmos, indicate we are at the center or extremely close to the center of the universe but it isn’t accepted admittedly based on their “philosophical beliefs”.
The explanation to avoid this is a claim that no matter where you are in the universe it will look like you’re at the center so that’s why it looks like we are the center of the universe. This is accepted on faith only, no evidence for this. It is an axiom required to save the model of the universe that we have picked. Without this axiom the model falls apart and a God becomes a really big possibility.
They accept this explanation completely on faith as it is required to avoid the horrific possibility of us being the center of the universe making big Science a “religion” in a sense at that point.

George Ellis, a famous cosmologist, in Scientific American, "Thinking Globally, Acting Universally", October 1995 “People need to be aware that there is a range of models that could explain the observations,” Ellis argues. “For instance, I can construct you a spherically symmetrical universe with Earth at its center, and you cannot disprove it based on observations.” Ellis has published a paper on this. "You can only exclude it on philosophical grounds. In my view there is absolutely nothing wrong in that. What I want to bring into the open is the fact that we are using philosophical criteria in choosing our models. A lot of cosmology tries to hide that.”

And lastly, Edwin Hubble’s damning quote that speaks for itself.
“Such a condition would imply that we occupy a unique position in the universe, analogous, in a sense, to the ancient conception of a central earth. The hypothesis cannot be disproved but it is unwelcome and would be accepted only as a last resort in order to save the phenomena. Therefore, we disregard this possibility and consider the alternative, namely, a distribution which thins out with distance.” “A thinning out would be readily explained in either of two ways. The first is space absorption. If the nebulae were seen through a tenuous haze, they would fade away faster than could be accounted for by distance and red-shifts alone, and the distribution, even if it were uniform, would appear to thin out. The second explanation is a super-system of nebulae, isolated in a larger world, with our own nebula somewhere near the centre. In this case the real distribution would thin out after all the proper corrections had been applied. Both explanations seem plausible, but neither is permitted by the observations. The apparent departures from uniformity in the World Picture are fully compensated by the minimum possible corrections for redshifts on any interpretation. No margin is left for a thinning out. The true distribution must either be uniform or increase outward, leaving the observer in a unique position. But the unwelcome supposition of a favoured location must be avoided at all costs….Such a favoured position, of course, is intolerable … Therefore, in order to restore homogeneity, and to escape the horror of a unique position, the departures from uniformity, which are introduced by the recession factors, must be compensated by the second term representing effects of spatial curvature.
