China is amassing a nuclear arsenal, followed by an impassioned rant

According to the World Nuclear Association, (Some subtractions were made)

“Mainland China has about 45 nuclear power reactors in operation, 12 under construction

The government's long-term target is for 58 GWe capacity by 2020, with 30 GWe more under construction.

China has become largely self-sufficient in reactor design and construction, as well as other aspects of the fuel cycle, but is making full use of western technology while adapting and improving it.

China’s policy is to ‘go global’ with exporting nuclear technology including heavy components in the supply chain.”

With that preface, it’s clear that China is becoming a nuclear authority. The problem is with that much reactor power it is only a matter of time before a wealth of weapons grade material is bred in these reactors. With that material China will amass a non enumerable arsenal of nuclear weapons. Unfortunately they may be willing to export those capabilities in some capacity.

On top of this China has been publicly displaying progress in the development of the components necessary to securing a nuclear triad.

Americans may no longer discuss non nuclear proliferation on big stages, but it’s still necessary. I understand we have a president who for 71 years of his life didn’t know what a nuclear triad was. However, the president before who claimed to be a nuclear nonproliferation expert committed the US to spending 10 trillion over 30 years to retrofit the Minuteman III platform as well as matching Russia in openly carrying banned intermediate nuclear weapon platforms on naval vessels. To that point it seems that “knowledge” isn’t a relevant factor.

The world can’t afford to have another nuclear power. Nor can it afford such brash actions by the nation’s capable of our global environments’ destruction.

Why as a nation must we pretend that we are further from nuclear annihilation than we were during the Cold War?

Our ideal focuses as a society are simple: Securing a scalable method of food supply, Securing a dependable water supply, Securing a dependable energy supply, Remediating environmental degradation, Preventing mass conflict, Upholding basic human rights

Anything that deviates humanity’s attention from these ideal focuses is part of the conspiracy against.
