A virus that wreaks havoc on the respiratory system arises only a few years after an increase in e-cigarette use

Maybe I just have a tinfoil hat on, but it’s interesting to note that JUUL was a huge disruption to the Tobacco industry that quickly became the forefront of that same industry. It soared in popularity only a few years prior to a virus emerging that wreaks total havoc on the respiratory system. With the rise of JUUL, younger people who had almost completely stigmatized cigarette use began to hop on the electronic cigarette trend, and many other similar companies quickly adapted to capitalize on the rise of electronic cigarettes. This eventually led to lawmakers in several states changing nicotine laws to try and curb teen nicotine use. Maybe I just have a tinfoil hat on but could the nature of how the coronavirus attacks the body be a potential way to try and finally stomp out smoking on a large scale so that the government can spite tobacco companies?
