Trump didn't want to be president.
Trump is the first sore winner I have ever seen. And he worked so hard to lose. Remember his campaigning? From remorseless pussy grabbing, which should piss off the evangelicals and the progressives at the same time, to speeches that made Bush Junior look like the epitome of diplomacy and intellectualism to piss off the rest.
What he didn't have on the radar was just HOW much the US population was already pissed off by being lied to, and people going "he's an asshole allright, but at least he is honest about it".
Watching his inauguration speech was a thing and a half. I have never seen a president elect be SO pissed off at the moment of his alleged greatest triumph. It's understandable. He just lost millions of dollars.
To understand this, you'd have to know what Trump had planned. He planned to lose. Narrowly, but lose. He had a media empire ready to launch that would ride on how the election was stolen from him, pretty much in a bid to oust Breitbart as the go-to media outlet for the right wing. It would ride on how Clinton stole the election and make him millions. Plus, he'd get to eventually have more and more control of the media landscape of the US.
Well, that dream has been postponed by 4 years, but it ain't over yet. He can still get his wish, all he has to do now is to lose this time. It looks far less likely, though. Even with Covid, there doesn't seem to be anything he could do to get his wish granted.
