Why is the average person so trusting of their government?

Of all the years I've known about conspiracies and government collusion/corruption(I live in a corrupt country), I have serious questions on why the average person seems to be unwilling to listen to anything that goes against what they are fed by big government.

What is the appeal of these people to parrot what corporations and government officials say? The media will show people what the media wants people to see, they force people to fear what they want people to fear, they force people to think exactly the way they would like people to think, and yet people still go along with that trusting everything their government tells them.

In East Asia a lot of people know their governments are corrupt, but in the west the only qualifying factor in which people think their government isn't corrupt is because of the party name in politics. When both candidates don't mention anything about war, anything about collusion with some countries that can't be named, no mention of central banks printing money endlessly debasing their currency, and both want to force more government on the population, people seemingly go along with it.

I just don't understand the mindset that leads people to be completely compliant with government.
