Rudloe manor (Britain’s Area 51)

About a mile away form my house is a large abandoned military facility used from the Second World War up until the late eighties. Throughout its use, it was classified (declassified in 2004) and has remained a hotspot for ufo activity, theories and ideas. I’ve been there myself, and let’s just say for an abandoned campus, it’s hella active. This is what I know of it:

The station was established on top of quarries from which Bath Stone had been extracted. In the 1930s some of the tunnels had been converted for use as a Central Ammunition Depot. The vast caverns had some 2,250,000 square feet (209,000 m2) of space, divided into many smaller chambers. For years, the RAF’s secret service worked at Rudloe Manor across espionage and counterintelligence operations, but also something else - UFO investigations. The claim was consistently denied by the MOD, but in 2007, during a release of declassified files from the National Archives, it was finally confirmed the site was the centre for UFO investigations in the 1950s. It is speculated that that in the underground plane factory’s (yes they built planes underground) they actually took apart and reverse engineered ufos! I should mention at this point, the bunker that’s under the campus is the 7th largest on the planet, and can hold up to 4,500 people for 6 months without anything coming in or out. It was so important, it was were the royal family and prime minister were to go if England was to get attacked by nuclear force (the bunker was designed to withstand nuclear detonation). Winston Churchill’s private office was in the bunker during the war. Want to know anything else?
