AT&T Phantom Phone Calls From the Past
My husband came home from work today and described some extremely weird happenings. His company has been receiving hundreds of phantom phone calls that seem to be misrouted from somebody else's calls. They could hear parts of the conversation, but could not participate. Some phone calls were very garbled/muffled, some had no dialog, only random sounds like a butt dial (or a microphone left on), one phone call caught the attention of the entire company: the call was from my husband to the IT Network Admin, the IT guy recognized my husband's voice and called an executive to go find him (at work) and figure out which line he was using, suspecting a network breech. However, when he found my husband, he was not on the phone. The IT guy put my phantom husband on speaker so he could hear his own voice. The conversation was very broken and muffled, but recognizable as my husband's voice. Bits of the conversation we have linked to a private face-to-face conversation we had two weeks prior. My husband had not spoken to anybody on the phone today. Other phone calls the IT department received today included random people talking to doctors and pharmacists, social security numbers being spoken, credit card numbers being spoken, reading programming code, etc. So uh....anybody else have this problem today? When AT&T was contacted, they said, "it is a network wide issue." That's it. I cannot find ANYTHING in the news about this. Nobody is talking about it anywhere. I figured Reddit would possibly know something. It's very spooky.
