Many of the conspiracy theories we see online are in and of themselves part of a greater conspiracy: to confuse, distract, and otherwise shatter public trust in anything bearing the conspiracy label.

A little backstory:

I used to be hardcore in to conspiracy theories, starting with the 9-11 truth movement around 2002. It all made sense, at least at the time. However, as the years went on the theories got more and more out there, the people got more and more crazy, and less and less people were interested in anything I had to say on the matter.

That made me think... what if the power brokers of the world are the one creating all of this content? What if flat earth, lizard people, and other far fetched theories were created, by design, to discredit any movement to uncover real global conspiracies?

To me this makes perfect sense. Create a bunch of patently false conspiracy theories that distract from and dilute the real conspiracies.

Because let's face it, there is a billionaire class robbing us blind, pointless wars solely for profit, false flag events, and corrupt politicians. There are wealthy pedophiles, and yes, they do tend to get away with it (not having to kidnap or breed your own kids is a big advantage). But are they really in some satanic death cult that murders kids for adrenochrome? that's a little harder to get behind.

For the sake of argument, let's say me and my friends are super rich and also into little boys. A good way to keep the general public from murdering me in the street would be to start a bunch of absolutely bat shit crazy rumors about myself. If I can get enough people to go around saying /u/rileyhemp drinks kids blood and worships the devil, when someone says I'm a pedo, they'll just assume it's the same old BS and move on.

It reminds me of an episode of the office, when Michael accidentally spills the beans about Stanley’s affair. His solution? Drum up rumors about everyone so that no one knows what the one true rumor is and just assume it's all bs.

I don't know if there's a word for this, but these false flag conspiracy theories are everywhere. And I am fairly certain Qanon is a shining example of this. Start with something true, and progressively add in more and more dogshit until the public just thinks they're a bunch of looneys.

Who knows, but after coming to this realization everything changed. I started seeing 2 hour youtube videos not as informative, but as deceptive. Intentionally trying to lead me away from the real conspiracy, just like the black police officer leading protesters away from the chamber that still had lawmakers in it. It's a fucking distraction, all of it.

Does anyone else feel this way?
