random question about thoughts and behaviors

Recently I was thinking about how much people learn as children.

For lack of a better way to phrase it children are more impressionable and often assume the information people communicate to them is true.

Unless critical thinking skills are explicitly taught then a child is sort of victim to his or her experiences.

At least until he or she develops those skills (if at all).

Same is true for interpersonal and emotional regulation skills.

So the basis of a child's entire psychology is largely built on false assumptions, filtered truths, etc.

Even if critical thinking skills are gained one has to essentially go back and unlearn the things once assumed true, evaluating each and everything that was fed to his or her psychology earlier in life.

To circle back to the point I am trying to make is that there are system level factors that influence this early learning so I wondering what features of our society's current system might have or are contributing to educational (in all senses of the word) gaps related to other--or even creating--other societal issues?

So much information is available and even thrust upon us without our say so it's challenging to sift through all of it
