Community update regarding the site-wide TOS
Hello all,
The /r/conspiracy mod team has seen a substantial uptick in TOS violations occurring over recent weeks that has given rise to concerns.
As a mod team, we spend a majority of our time in the moderation queues responding to reports related to subreddit rule violations and such TOS violations that are often made by accounts that are only a few months old, with no history in the subreddit.
While we are able to keep our report queues at 0 throughout the day, meaning that every reported comment and submission is reviewed by hand every single day, the uptick in TOS violations that we have been removing as of late is a red flag.
To that end, the mod team would be grateful if any such TOS violations could be reported to modmail or via the report button as soon as possible when they are posted.
To be clear, the mod team has a zero tolerance policy for any TOS violations and bans for those violations are issued on a first offense.
As a reminder, reddit's site wide content policy (created and enforced by site admins, but also required to be enforced by volunteer moderators) is as follows;
Rule 1
Remember the human. Reddit is a place for creating community and belonging, not for attacking marginalized or vulnerable groups of people. Everyone has a right to use Reddit free of harassment, bullying, and threats of violence. Communities and users that incite violence or that promote hate based on identity or vulnerability will be banned.
Rule 2
Abide by community rules. Post authentic content into communities where you have a personal interest, and do not cheat or engage in content manipulation (including spamming, vote manipulation, ban evasion, or subscriber fraud) or otherwise interfere with or disrupt Reddit communities.
Rule 3
Respect the privacy of others. Instigating harassment, for example by revealing someone’s personal or confidential information, is not allowed. Never post or threaten to post intimate or sexually-explicit media of someone without their consent.
Rule 4
Do not post or encourage the posting of sexual or suggestive content involving minors.
Rule 5
You don’t have to use your real name to use Reddit, but don’t impersonate an individual or an entity in a misleading or deceptive manner.
Rule 6
Ensure people have predictable experiences on Reddit by properly labeling content and communities, particularly content that is graphic, sexually-explicit, or offensive.
Rule 7
Keep it legal, and avoid posting illegal content or soliciting or facilitating illegal or prohibited transactions.
Rule 8
Don’t break the site or do anything that interferes with normal use of Reddit.
We appreciate those of you who are willing to help protect the existence of this subreddit by ensuring those TOS violations are removed, as it would be impossible for any mod team to report the content you all keep an eye on every day of the year.
While /r/reddit.com is no more, and /u/aaronsw sadly left our planet long ago, this little corner of the internet burns an ever dimming candle in honor of what once was on this platform.
