David Fravor was unable to explain why Mick West is wrong and its been bothering me.
I found this really unfortunate. David Fravor was presented with the perfect opportunity to show why we shouldn't question experienced aviators and explain to everyone including Mick, why his theories about the three videos are completely incorrect. However, Fravor fails miserably. His attempt is so bad that he even resorts to quoting Jeremy Corbell at one point. In Fravor's defense, I think this was more due to unfamiliarity with Mick's claims than anything else. But if he was unfamiliar with the claims, that's all he had to say. Instead, he goes on to make a ton of mistakes.
Fravor incorrectly tries to explain how a FLIR pod works when mounted on a superhornet, not once but twice. He also claims that trained observers FREQUENTLY make mistakes with their eyes but also that trained observers are reliable because of their instruments and experience?? Well, the tic tac didn't even appear on fravors instruments. He actually says this all in the same jumbled explanation. It was tough to listen to. Fravor then attempts to dispute the theory that go fast video is a bird (a theory Mick doesn't even think is likely so this is pointless) but Fravor does so by using "evidence" that actually doesn't make sense, and that's where the Corbell quote comes from.
Even if you hate Mick, I recommend watching this video in its entirety. But for those of you who can't stand opposing analysis I have included some short clips here in case you refuse to watch the whole thing.
- Mick explains that Commander David Fravor is about to quote Jeremy Corbell on debunking the bird theory and goes into why his explanation does not make sense
- Fravor incorrectly explains how the FLIR pod works and Mick cites the patent for the pod and explains why Fravor is likely wrong in this explanation
- David Fravor attempts to debunk Mick's theory about the Gimbal video, but he completely misses the mark. Its clear he doesn't even understand Mick's original theory that what we are seeing in the Gimbal video is actually a rotation of glare
- David Fravor is asked how often aviators make mistakes in identification. Fravor candidly replies "ALL THE TIME" after he just finished explaining that he could tell the tic tac was 40 feet long just with his eyes alone through pure experience.
- David is asked about the FLIR1 video and if its possible that the object actually did not speed away but that the infrared tracking system lost track of the object, Fravors answer leaves a lot to be desired
At the end of all this, Mick admits that his hypothesis about what Fravor saw isn't even that good, but that he was very disappointed that Fravor was unable to provide better explanations. Again in Fravor's defense, he is a pilot. Someone on this sub explained to me that there's no reason why Fravor should understand the ins and outs of the FLIR pod, that is not his job. I just wish he would have admitted that before all this mess. Mick has actually interviewed everyone from the Nimitz fleet who agreed to talk to him (PJ Hughes, Gary Vorhees, Kevin Day), those interviews are very good and he keeps the "debunking" to a minimum so I recommend watching them. Unfortunately, Fravor will not agree to an interview.
