It Was Always About Palestine.
Ok I'll try to keep it short. Links to sources at the end.
Prior to WW1 Palestine was under Turkish control (part of the Ottoman Empire). In 1920 as a result of territorial changes in WW1 that left some regions without government, The League of Nations (the precursor the UN) Assigned Britain to administer an authority over Palestine. That was called 'The Mandate for Palestine'. The purpose was supposed to be for Britain to help Palestine form its own government but it seems they had other ideas because three years earlier in 1917 the British Government had signed a declaration to support the Zionist goal of creating a Jewish state in Palestine. That is known as 'The Balfour Declaration' in the form of a letter from the British Government to Lord Rothschild.
So during the 1920s while Britain was in authority over Palestine nothing much changed until Hitler came to power in Germany in 1933. Hitler also supported the Balfour Declaration so he signed an agreement with the Zionists to move the Jews from Europe to Palestine. That agreement is called 'The Haavara Agreement' (Haavara is Hebrew for transfer). They built Haavara camps in Germany to be used as staging points. The Jews were first brought there and then shipped out to Palestine. The first Haavara camp was built at Dachau in 1933.
During the mid 1930s they shipped around 75,000 Jews from Germany to Palestine but instead of sharing the lands with the indigenous Palestinians, the European Jewish immigrants formed terrorist paramilitary groups like 'The Irgun' to run the Palestinians off by a campaign of mass shootings and terrorist bombings. Those terrorist incidents escalated throughout 1938 until the British Government finally got tired of it all and in May 1939 they tried to wash their hands of the whole thing by publishing a new policy document known as 'The White Paper for 1939’ heavily restricting Jewish immigration to Palestine and handing over authority on further immigration to the Arabs.
That meant the Jews that were in the Haavara camps in Germany were now stuck there. Germany and Britain went to war four months later that same year in September 1939 and WW2 began and to this day no one will admit that it was because Britain was obstructing Hitler's operation to move the Jews to Palestine but if you look up the early battles in WW2 they were in N.Africa and the countries strategic to Palestine. Probably because Hitler wanted to take control of the region so he could resume the transfer of the Jews but as Germany got deeper into the war and they lost the campaign in N.Africa the Haavara camps descended into what became known as the holocaust.
That right there is the big 20th Century Conspiracy that Hitler got blamed for all of it.
Also worth noting. Prior to WW2 Britain had signed alliance treaties with Poland. Hitler had to therefore know if he went to war with Britain over Palestine it would mean war with Poland on Germany's eastern border so it is interesting that Hitler preempted that by taking out Poland first in Sept 1939 (barely three months after Britain had announced their new restrictive immigration policy for Palestine). Britain's other main ally at the time was France on Germany's western border. Hitler took them out six months later in May 1940. Once that was accomplished Hitler opened hostilities with Britain in N.Africa the following month in June 1940 and if you look at the progression of the WW2 battles in N.Africa and the Middle East with this previously unknown Palestine agenda in mind the whole thing makes so much more sense.
