The upper limit conspiracy theory of finance algorithms
I don't think it's unreasonable to create an algorithm that outperforms everyone else in the finance sector of the stock market.
This is just capitalism doing it's thing.
You got a good idea? You got the capital behind you? You win, plain and simple.
Ok. Stop. Breathe. What are the ramifications of this disruptive technology?
Let's say this technology could ensure that the U.S. is an unquestionable global power for the next 100 years however half of our population will live in misery.
Instead of a shock to the system, we purposely hinder this golden system for a gradual decay.
Instead of ripping the bandaid off, we peel it over generations.
Conspiracy theories revolve around the idea that an all-powerful entity can snap it's fingers and take over.
Maybe the people who found the all-powerful-something understand that revealing that now would be an immediate destruction to too many lives.
So it's a slow burn.
They have the super computer that tells you when Coca Cola stock goes up and down. What would the average person do, knowing that information?
I propose intentional retardation in the market, where people believe that can make money (and probably will for the rest of their lives).
