I am so tired of the disrespect for NASA from this community

In literally every single thread about NASA on here, the top comment is some variation of "NASA is lying" or "NASA is hiding evidence of aliens" or just generally shitting on them as if they're the foremost enemy of people interested in UAPs.

Even after NASA Administrator Bill Nelson announced that their organization was getting directly involved in studying the Navy's UAP info, people continue to attack them, to disparage their work, and to hurl ridiculous, false accusations at them.

It's one of the most unjustified opinions I regularly see here.

NASA is perhaps the most interested governmental organization in finding life beyond Earth. They have spent unbelievable amounts of money and manhours over decades trying to find evidence that life exists elsewhere in the cosmos. They are hugely invested.

Proof of alien life would cause NASA's budget to be massively increased through huge public and scientific interest. It would only benefit them, regardless of who made the discovery. Don't believe me? NASA's funding dropped after the Viking landers failed to detect life on Mars.

Consider that the Perseverance rover's landing spot in Jezero Crater was chosen specifically because it was determined to have been an ancient lake and would be a likely harbor of ancient microbial life. The rover has multiple instruments designed purely to detect life: https://mars.nasa.gov/news/8863/searching-for-life-in-nasas-perseverance-mars-samples/

NASA's strategy includes an entire arm dedicated to Astrobiology. Past projects have made serious efforts to find evidence of life on other planets:

The search for life beyond Earth is so intertwined with other NASA goals (and is so interdisciplinary by nature and design), it can never really be separated or isolated from them. The Cassini mission to Saturn discovered plumes spitting out of the moon Enceladus, and the Hubble Space Telescope did the same for Europa. Both plumes tell of an inner water world, and so are important to planetary science as well as astrobiology. The Kepler mission has identified thousands of exoplanets in a small segment of the constellation Cygnus, 500 light years away, adding enormously to our understanding of the inventory and nature of distant planets. Included in those discoveries are the detection of rocky planets within the habitable zones of their central stars.

I'm tired of people making ridiculous claims about NASA covering up evidence of UFOs. They either never cite a source or link to weak videos from dubious sources that show nothing conclusive.

Have some astronauts claimed to see UFOs? Yes, undoubtedly. But an object being unidentified is not the same thing as an object that's known to be an alien spacecraft or something like that.

Mark Kelly explained (at 1:25) that on his third space shuttle flight, he and 5 others of his crew, all highly trained astronauts, mistook the enormous International Space Station for a piece of debris floating nearby their shuttle. So it's obvious that astronauts are gonna see things they can't readily identify, but that gives no reason to assume they're all alien spacecraft.

Here's another case where a NASA astronaut though they saw a UFO outside the ISS, but it was just an antenna cap.

Consider also that Russian astronauts have seen UFOs, reported it to Roscosmos who openly commented on it, and yet have never concluded they have evidence of ETI or alien spacecraft. They're simply unknown objects. There are 15 countries on board the ISS, all of whom have the same opportunity to see and comment on any strange happenings, so why aren't they reporting UAP evidence that's been covered up?

Just step back for a minute and think about all of this. NASA is one of the most helpful organizations in the world to anyone who wants to find life beyond Earth, they're one of the pioneers of human spaceflight. They are not the enemy, they're not hiding anything, they're on the side of anyone with an interest in the search for extraterrestrial life, and frankly attacking them makes this community look crazy, temperamental, and excessively conspiratorial.
