Saying the US federal government "knows" UAPs are aliens in not logical

I want to start with sharing my starting point on UAPs generally. I’m not a life-long follower of the subject, have absolutely no emotional connection, and it holds no part of my personal identity. I’m someone who has been increasingly aware of UAPs from a national security perspective and a secondary scientific curiosity. I have no ideological or almost personal “dog in this fight,” as, to me, so many people here seem to have. That being said, I’m happy that this sub exists and that so many of us here approach the topic in good-faith and with open arms.

That being said, there’s a portion of this sub that always comments when an official from the US Federal Government official says anything, you say the equivalent of “Stop hiding the truth; we all know its aliens/ET”. My question is: why do you think that the US government possesses this knowledge?

There is currently rather insignificant insignificant open source data to suggest this. What we do have are several categories of evidence of phenomenon. (Bear in mind, evidence is a fact, a collection of evidence supports a hypothesis or conclusion. They are listed in what I personally think are increasing in significance, but reasonable people can differ on this.) Category #1 would include interesting but uncorroborated oral descriptions of lay-personal interactions (abduction stories, hypnotic retellings, visual observations, etc.). Category #2 would include raw data/testing alone (radar readings without visual corroborations, objects in photographs discovered after development, etc.). Category #3 would include oral descriptions of trained individual interactions (military pilot interactions without technological data, such as Commander Fravor’s testimony, and Lt. Commander Alex Dietrich’s testimony. Category #4 would include trained individual’s interactions combined with corroborating data (basically overlapping evidence from Category #2 and Category #3). Category #5 would be physical evidence, for which there is no open-source evidence currently available.

I suggest that we exclude all Category #1 evidence because it fundamentally both unable to be corroborated OR rebutted. By definition, these pieces of evidence are unable to be bolstered or diminished by other evidence. They also have the least reliability given that they are pure personal stories by non-trained individuals.

Putting that to the side, none of the open source information from Category #2-4 tells us that the US Federal Government has actual knowledge that UAPs are craft/vehicle/objects of alien/ET origin. The strongest description we have is that there is an increasingly large amount of Category #4 evidence that trained individuals are witnessing physical objects in the atmosphere, that are at least occasionally documented by simultaneous technological sensors (radar, infrared, etc.). Such evidence is bolstered by some comparatively reliable Category #3 and Category #2 evidence.
To extrapolate and say that “the US Federal Government knows the UAPs are alien/ET technology” takes a significant and flawed logical leap. The simplest answer, which is the one supported by the open-source evidence, is that the US Federal Government has no better understanding of the nature or origin of these objects than the general public does. It is absolutely reasonable that they have more data (more radar, infrared, etc. readings which show a larger sample-size of the tracked characteristics of the objects, such as g-force performance, GPS locations, length of observation, etc.) But these data points would do nothing to tell us origin of the objects. At most, it confirms that the objects are not current human technologically created vehicles/machines as such data could confirm the objects survive g-forces that current human technology cannot exhibit.

Likewise, more trained individual’s eye-witness accounts will provide nothing in addition to the origin of such objects. Again, more eye-witness accounts can strengthen the position that such phenomenon has occurred. It may tell us about frequency of observation (increasing, decreasing, steady, etc.). It may tell us a potential geographic concentration of such phenomenon. But it will not tell us anything about origin of such objects.

Therefore, for someone to say the US federal government knows UAPs are alien/ET origin is to ignore any other cause. (I don’t want to add to speculation, but sources such as extra-dimensional origin, space-time distortion, etc. are equally supported (and equally unsupported) by evidence). That is to say, there is absolutely no evidence of the origin of such objects. (Any any application of Occam’s Razor to suggest that ET is the most logical explanation is not evidence, it is the personal application of evidence, but I digress).

Therefore, to suggest that the US federal government “knows” of the source of UAPs is to require an assumption of evidence currently not available. It requires that you believe, without evidence, that the US federal government has irrefutable evidence of the origin of UAPs. This would likely have occurred only from direct contact with the UAPs, who have communicated with human language skills succinct and proficient enough to explain their origin. The less strong evidence would be capture and study of a physical object; yet this would not rule out any specific origin itself, but likely just again confirm that the object is not of current human origin/technology. And again, there is absolutely no evidence of this.
In short, when you say that the US federal government “knows” of the objects’ origin, that is implausible. What they likely “know” is what they’ve already admitted. That there are observed, physical objects in the atmosphere, with some phenomenon recorded by data while also visually observed by trained individuals. Anything further is speculation and science-fiction. It requires application of the above with fundamentally non-provable Category #1 hearsay.

I appreciate your time reading this wall of text. I don’t wish to dampen anyone’s excitement or interest. I simply want to have a discussion based upon the evidence and perhaps learn what blind spot I have in my review of the phenomenon.

I hope you all have a great weekend and I’ll read any responses.
