What is hypersonic technology? And how soon should I learn Mandarin?

I would like to congratulate our communist overlords, for single handedly advancing to the point of creating "god like" technology. The west has lost the international arms race, and I am terrified /s.

How did China and Russia create David Fravors tic tac? How did they create these metamaterials 80 years ago? How has not one scientist defected with this world bending technology? Why is the east dicking around with smoking aircraft carriers without catapults, while they could end the cruel imperialism of the west in 10 minutes time?

We have ruled out UAP as equipment malfunctions, they are not made in the US of A, they arent weather balloons, atmospheric illusions, nor a flock of birds travelling @30k mph.

According to the NYT, it is either Russia, China, or maybe aliens.

But in all seriousness, what is hypersonic technology?

Seriously, a thought exercise, I know this sub has it's fair share of people that are intelligent, people with field experience, people that are rational. Yes some tin foil hats as well, but 90% of the people that contribute here do have working grey matter.

What is hypersonic technology? How is it propelled? How fast does it go? How is it launched? How does it fly? How long has it been around? How many working examples of it are there? What countries have actually PROVABLY created successful examples of this? What is the purpose of hypersonics? How will hypersonic vehicles evolve as technology progresses?

Without looking it up on google/wiki, I'll explain what I know to be verifiably true, and welcome any correction/clarification.

Hypersonic missiles are chemically powered, delta (wedge) shaped projectiles, that launch from extreme altitudes, in a very rigid fashion, typically straight line.

So. We (US) launch a missile, either up to altitude from the ground, or from an airplane, to begin the hypersonic attack. The "head" of this missile, uses altitude to its advantage, for protection, as well as speed. The hypersonic vehicle detaches from its chemical rocket, which, btw, essentially is using ancient chinese rocket technology to this day, and then proceeds to descend upon its target. Either rocket power, ramjets, or scramjets, propel this wedge of doom towards its target. In its meteoric descent, this vehicle approaches 4k mph, or 6k kph, Mach 5, 1700 meters per second. It glows red from the friction of the air that it is ripping apart.

This speed, not only pushes the envelope of material science, but navigation as well. The materials quickly reach a temperature of 1000°C/1800°F. That will melt many materials, at the least, and as an understatement, create a VERY LARGE heat signature.

Why make a vehicle that nearly destroys itself upon reentry into the lower atmosphere?

Two reasons:

1. There is effectively no counter measure that could prevent an airstrike at these speeds. Nothing whatsoever could be done to stop an object, except for the target that will soon be vaporized and turned into a large crater.

2. The amount of energy that a solid object moving at that speed, is catastrophic. No nuclear fallout needed, this object, be it ball sized, or car sized, will create a shock wave that liquifies whatever its target is, with a devastating shockwave to boot.

Abstract:

The NYT has assessed that the UAP phenom is either Eastern hypersonic technology, or, aliens.

Hypersonic tech has only been under development within the past several decades, and still has a very high failure rate. Even with the US military budget, and some of the worlds brightest/darkest minds fueling that fire, it has been abysmal how little progress has been made. Most of our hypersonic test beds have ended up either disintegrating, or losing control.

"The Chinese have displayed hypersonic vehicles on parade". Cool. Ya know once I saw an alien on TV, so no further proof needed.

Just to make ONE solid example, and only one, for brevity. The tic tac moved BEYOND hypersonic speeds. And hovered. And changed directions. Went to the mesosphere. And back down to sea level. With zero shock waves. With zero heat signature. With zero evidence of any known propulsion system. While 2 of the US most sophisticated aircraft ran out of fuel trying to keep up with this object, it just played with us, like a child and a pill bug.

Please. Please. Somebody prove to me that I am delusional. Tell me how my college science professors failed to teach me the ways of the universe, chemistry, and physics itself.

Please tell me that you have seen a chinese hypersonic vehicle, demonstrating these God-like abilities. But I need proof.

I want to believe that the Chinese have broken every law of physics as we know it, while they send an R/C car to Mars, 50 years after the United States did the same thing.
