Why do we pay taxes to a system we hate? The school system doesn’t teach us financial history for a reason.
If we as individuals make up the majority of the country, why aren’t we the ones deciding how much we are taxed? Jeff Bezos was able to get away with paying 0% in income taxes through loopholes he likely helped create. Having that type of power is like have cheats turned on in a video game. We as individuals can take advantage of these loopholes, but it’s hard to know they exist without the proper education. Most people don’t have the education, the money, or time to participate in certain loopholes.
The biggest conspiracy here is that the public school system doesn’t teach the fundamentals of financial literacy. No history about money, no required classes that teach you about taxes. The real kicker is that we are obligated to pay taxes our entire lives, but public education chooses to leave tax history & knowledge out of our heads. Instead we just read 1984 in high school and then shrug after reading it saying “Oh, that would never happen”. I know I did for a time.
Instead we have a version of 1984 that is almost worse if we keep heading in this direction. We are debt and tax slaves. Our wealth is stolen from us and put into the hands of people and organizations that we don’t even know or possibly benefit from.
