The Surprising correspondence between Ancient Egyptian tales and the Old Testament
I read the book Evil Religions Unmasked and the most shocking thing I found is the author’s analysis of the literary sources of the main Abrahamic texts, the Old Testament.
Instead of taking the similarities between the Old Testament and some Greek mythologies or Mesopotamian tales, he brought to the light a surprising parallelism between ancient Egyptian tales and Old Testament ones.
The novelty in this study is that when you read the ancient Egyptian fictional tales you cannot help yourself to think that you are reading those Old Testament so high the correspondence is.
All Old Testament elements we find in the Ancient Egyptian tales, magic, apparitions, dreams, serpents, wisdom advice, admonishing, commandments, the opening of river, and many others. Even the 10 commandments we find within Ancient Egyptian texts.
His thesis is that in some way, by accident or not, the Jewish people came to adopt those Ancient Egyptian tales as religious texts, and this is the problem because those tales are fictional written for entertainment, and everyone inside Egypt knew that.
So, why did ancient Jewish people come to do this mistake? Because of a single but major slip: the ancient Egyptians called their pharaohs God after death, so when foreigners read or heard God in those tales, they didn’t understand that they were talking about the dead pharaohs but thought that they were talking about the miracles of a God! The correspondence is so strong that when they were referring to a deceased Pharaoh they talked as if they were talking about a monotheistic religion because instead of calling out some particular God, they just called him God.
I think that his thesis is not a last stone over it but a beginning of many other analysis in this way, probably it’s a very good project to develop for some scholars. He states that the Ancient Egyptian tales are way older than Old Testament, something that I found correct.
Have one of you ever read some analysis like this before? Could you imagine all Abrahamic religions being based on a mistake of taking fictional tales as religious, the consequences of this, because the OT are the basis of them all?”
